The Mueller report summary written by Attorney General William Barr gave a lot of people indigestion after Sunday brunch. Barr’s summary was pretty cut and dry. He said Mueller didn’t find evidence that Trump had a preconceived deal with Russia to interfere in the election. Even though there’s information floating around Washington that shows Trump had meetings with high-ranking Russians in 2015 while he attended a Miss Universe pageant.
Mr. Trump also wanted to firm up a deal with Russia so he could build a Trump Tower in Moscow. The Trump Tower plan was to build the largest building in Europe and give Putin a penthouse in the tower for free. There’s also information that claims Trump had himself a rip-roaring orgy with two Russian call girls at the same time. But Mueller didn’t find any solid evidence that Trump made some kind of deal with Russia in 2015. But some reports say he would lift Russian sanctions if he won. That was a Russian priority.
The Democrats aren’t happy with the results of Barr’s summary. And they aren’t happy about Barr’s decision that no obstruction of justice happened when Trump fired Comey or when he made Jeff Sessions look like the backless LGBT hater he is. Trump didn’t beat Sessions up for those reasons. Trump had enough of Sessions. Jeff didn’t want to get involved in the Mueller investigation and help him.
The Barr summary is a big win for Trump. Lindsey Graham, Trump’s faithful lapdog, confirmed the no collusion, no obstruction, verdict Barr conveniently put in front of the public. Mr. Barr knows the full report will never see the light of day. But he continues to pussyfoot around that fact.
National security issues are part of the Mueller report, so they won’t get out for years, if ever. And there are four Trump investigations in progress not counting the five investigation Congress is knee deep in, according to the Washington Post. Don Jr. and Ivanka didn’t waste time claiming a win for them and for the president. Don Jr.’s tweet about the Barr letter was all about how sane the Trumpians are and how despicable the people who want justice are.
But Ivanka tweets won the prize for originality, according to the Post. Ivanka decided to quote Abe Lincoln in her celebratory tweet. She said, “truth is the perfect vindication when slander is in the mix.” But it seems Mr. Trump lives by the phrase slander is the best vindication when truth has him by the short hairs.
