If you are a fan of college football, especially Big Ten football, you know that Michigan vs. Ohio State needs no introduction. These two teams truly have a strong dislike for one another. While hate is a strong word, it is pretty fair to say that when the whistle blows on game day, these squads toe the line of hatred.
No extra hype is needed to bring out all the hard-hitting action between these two squads, nevertheless, Michigan running back Karan Higdon threw a bit of gas on the smoldering week long pre-hype flames.
According to a Saturday Tradition report, Michigan players had their weekly meeting with the media on Monday, and to no one’s surprise, not a single reporter was interested in the Wolverines big win over Indiana on Saturday – just the upcoming Ohio State game slated for this weekend.
Higdon, Michigan’s star running back who has gained more than 1,000 yards rushing and scored 10 touchdowns so far this season, was asked if he would guarantee that the Wolverines would be victorious in Columbus on Saturday.
After a long pause, Higdon said “ Yeah, I do. That’s how I feel.” The senior star went on to say that his team feels very confident and expects to play well this weekend.
Michigan fans can’t blame Higdon for his bravado. After all, Higdon’s head coach Jim Harbaugh also guaranteed his Michigan squad would defeat Ohio State back in 1986. Harbaugh made good on his promise and now Wolverines fans are hoping Higdon will as well.
In recent years, Ohio State has dominated this series, however, heading into this year’s game, Michigan has been declared the early favorite by Las Vegas oddsmakers. It marks the first time that the Buckeyes have been an underdog at home since Urban Meyer took over as head coach back in 2012.
Kickoff for Michigan vs. Ohio State will take place at high noon on Saturday, November 24. The game will air nationally on FOX and stream live through the FOX Sports Go app.
