North Korea Tells the UN That Washington Is Throwing A Blanket Over Their Efforts

The minister of foreign relations from North Korea, Ri Yong Ho has told the chief of the United Nations to recognize his country’s positive developments and efforts in their relations with South Korea. Mr. Ho made these sentiments as the final athletes from North Korea were arriving for the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang in South Korea. Pyongyang’s top diplomat warned of dangerous military moves that are emerging that are contrary to the positive moves taken by his country which has led to the better inter-Korean relation. Mr. ho said in a letter that was delivered by North Korea’s ambassador to the United Nations Ja Song Nam where he reiterated that the gestures of goodwill are meant to ease the pressure and tension between Washington and Pyongyang.

The letter that was addressed to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres noted that the sports diplomacy was a significant turning point for national reconciliation, peace, and stability in the Korean peninsula where there has been a touch and conflict for more than half a century now. The letter also said that the authorities in the United States have taken on a campaign to mislead public opinion. The foreign minister said that Washington wants the world to perceive the inter-Korean dialogue and diplomacy as a result of the maximum pressure and the harshest economic embargo that they are imposing on Pyongyang.

The letter also accused the Trump administration of aggravating an already volatile situation by deploying nuclear powered Nimitz-class super-carrier strike groups in proximity to North Korea. The letter also raised concerns that the military reinforcements by the US government in the region would be one of the most significant factors that could block the reconciliation and peace process and have the potential of pushing the Korean peninsula into a detrimental phase that is unprecedented and unpredictable. The repressive regime of Kim Jong Un has halted their nuclear ballistic missile tests temporarily to pave the way for a peaceful and prosperous winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

However, the Director of the CIA, Mike Pompeo has given a stern warning that Pyongyang could have a nuclear missile that has a range that is capable of striking any city in the continental United States with a couple of months. Mr. Pompeo admitted that president trump’s tough stunt on North Korea had yielded a sense of progress and seriousness in dealing with the threat that Kim Jong Un poses to the US and her allies.
